CAMBRIDGE With new home developments squeezing more and more properties onto even the smallest plot it has become common place for the gardens to be overlooked from all around. In this case where the development is of all town houses the extra height of the properties makes them especially imposing. In these situations good design in the garden is of utmost importance to distract the user from the buildings surrounding the garden. In this case the garden design relies on dividing the garden into multiple small areas to to fit in as many areas of interest as is practical without making the garden seem over crowded. The darkly painted fences accentuate the greenery within the garden boundaries, and the lighter gravel and paving helps maintain the sense of space. Treated timber is used for the divisions to ensure the landscaping was kept to an acceptable budget. The design incorporates a reasonably sized seating area, a small lawn and a herb bed for growing culinary herbs. Several climbers have been planted around the fences to give added height.
