Here is a typical example of a "Large" garden by new build home standards.

The developers had turfed the garden and laid a hand full of cheap slabs.

The client gave me a very rough outline of what they wanted in the garden and I adapted it to the garden design you see here.

Aside fro the sweeping patio the main feature is the decking which is constructed fro a hardwood called 'Balau'. Hardwoods give much better resistance to our ever changing English climate and have a more substantial feel to them than softwood decking.

The landscaping is quite contemporary with the paving and decking meeting at the same level. When viewed from the house the lower deck appears to be floating above the lawn.
