HERTFORDSHIRE Here is a typical example of a new build site. It is overlooked by several neighbouring properties and is a sloping site. The clients have two small children so wanted the garden to be as child friendly as possible whilst still being nice to look at. Also they asked if something could be done to break up the outline of the overlooking houses. The existing play equipment has been modified and re-used. A play area has been created in one corner of the garden raised up on sleepers and with a surface of deep play bark, this is in keeping with the rest of the design. Elsewhere the slope has been eliminated in favour of terracing which has been created with sleepers. A large area has been leveled and lawned for ball games. The planting has been carefully designed to create interference between this garden and the overlooking houses, as the plants are still immature in the photos this is best seen in the isometric plan. A large expanse of patio have been provided for entertaining near to the house. When not in use for this purpose it can be cleared for the children's use.
