Epping

The photographs on the left show the construction of this themed barbeque area in four stages.

The clients wanted to do something with this unattractive corner of their garden that would remind them of their holidays in Portugal.

I suggested this design based on a derelict Mediterranean style building with a terracotta tiled floor and rendered walls.

The roof beams I have used to act a a pergola are several hundred years old. They were originally part of some enormous oak vats. They have some wonderfully details such as a screw in plug which has all been hand carved of oak, several dowels and the patina of age. They are truly fascinating to examine in detail.

The tile decoration on the back wall is one that the clients bought back from their holidays and the barbeque has bee made to like as thought it's the old chimney brest.

Oak sleepers in amongst white spar chipping's lead down from the house and main patio.

The old millstone water feature is solar power due to the difficulty of cabling without disrupting the main patio.
